As the graphic designer for the African American Cultural Resource Center (AACRC) interior refresh at the University of Cincinnati, I was tasked with helping modernize the space while honoring its deep cultural significance. Building on an updated graphic style, I worked to thoughtfully integrate visual elements throughout the interior in a way that felt cohesive, respectful, and engaging.

One of the primary design challenges was organizing a large archive of paper marketing materials and historical photographs so they could be displayed in an accessible and meaningful way. My solution involved developing strategic display systems that not only brought structure to the space but also enhanced the storytelling of the AACRC’s rich legacy. I incorporated the center’s existing logo, color palette, and graphic elements into the design to create a unified visual identity that celebrates African American heritage, honors influential figures, and brings the AACRC’s history to life within the refreshed space.
